Salle du Grenier à sel
from 03 to 05 May
rue du Colonel Perrin, 76530 La Bouille
The exhibition
Under the Ancien Régime, Normandy was one of the countries with the largest population, where inhabitants were required to buy a certain quantity of salt. The collectors of the gabelle come to La Bouille to supply themselves with salt to distribute in the towns and villages of Lower Normandy. The attics are located on the coast: at Le Tréport, Saint Valéry, Quilleboeuf, Dieppedalle, etc. The lower Seine, which is less taxed than the Loire, supplies all of northern France. The “tax granary” of La Bouille is one of the oldest in Normandy.
